Ryan Krieger was born and raised in West Milford, New Jersey, where he developed a passion for music at an early age. His father’s audiophile collection of songs from various genres, especially punk, metal, and jazz, influenced him.
He received formal training from renowned drummers like Karl Latham and Gregg Bissonette and honed his skills by playing in various bands and projects. He had over 29 years of experience as a professional live and studio drummer and over 14 years of experience as a drum instructor. He also occasionally played bass and guitar and wrote his own music.
His versatility and diversity marked Ryan Krieger’s drumming career. He could easily switch between instrumental, singer/songwriter, rock, pop, jazz, Latin, electronic, hardcore, and metal styles. He combined the raw power of rock with the tightness of funk and the sophistication of jazz. He was known for his sensitive, forceful, and innovative style, which captivated audiences and impressed critics.
He played with some of the most famous artists and bands in the music industry, such as Bruce Hornsby and Iron Maiden. He also briefly played drums for Cro-Mags during the promotion of their Revenge album. He performed with world music legends Bad Haggis, a Deep Purple tribute band called The Sound of Purple, and a country tribute band called The George Strait Tribute featuring Jack LeDuc.
He also performed at the Las Vegas strip with Blue Man Group and Legends in Concert. Additionally, he recorded for TV and film, played at corporate events and school assemblies, led workshops, toured theatrical productions, and taught drumming to children and adults.

Did Ryan Krieger Die?
Ryan Krieger’s life was not without challenges. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2022 and underwent several treatments to fight the disease. He remained optimistic and hopeful throughout his ordeal and continued playing music whenever possible. He received support and encouragement from his family, friends, and fans, who admired his courage and resilience.
Unfortunately, Ryan Kreiger succumbed to cancer on April 29, 2023, at the age of 46. His death has shocked and saddened the music community and his loved ones.

He possessed incredible talent as a drummer, but above all, he exuded a captivating spirit. Ryan, your absence leaves a void that cannot be filled.
Today, the world seems a bit dimmer. Although your departure saddens me, I take solace in knowing you are finally free from suffering. I have faith that you’re now creating harmonies in another realm. My heartfelt sympathies go out to Ryan’s family and all those who cherished him.” Ryan Krieger will always be remembered as a talented drummer, a kind person, and a fun-loving spirit.
